2013 Calendar Art Competition

“There’s no place like home”

“There’s no place like home” is the famous line from the Wizard of Oz delivered byDorothy as she clicks her red shoes to return home after her adventures on the Yellow Brick Road.

We all have a different idea of what “Home” means to us. This Art Competition will explore the various ways we express the concept of home. You could draw the best part of where you live now, paint where you would like a home in the future, or describe what “home” means to you… the only limits are your imagination.

The media that may be used can be anything from pencil, drawing, painting, collage, printing, to digital photography and poetry. Sculpture, pottery and any 3D media are also included – however the item should be easily portable, and photographed. The maximum size for any flat artwork should not exceed A3. Any digital image submitted should be no larger than 5mb.

Competition categories

The competition is open to all tenants and leaseholders of Colchester Borough Homes (and their children or grandchildren) and will be judged in the following 3 age groups:

Age 15 years and under
Age 16 – 25 years
Age 25 years and over

Prizes

Prizes will be a voucher for £100 of art materials or a voucher worth £100 for digital camera equipment. The top 12 images selected by the judges will be used in the 2013 Colchester Borough Homes calendar. There is also a group prize for schools – where at least 1 of the contributors is the child or grandchild of a tenant or leaseholder.
