
In 2012, Colchester Borough Homes, drafted, consulted on and set six equality objectives as per our duty under the Public Sector Equality Duties. We also drafted and consulted on a new Equality Strategy that was approved by the Board in December 2012.
The Equality Strategy 2013-2016 includes our Equality Objectives as well as a three year action plan that sets out how we intend to meet our Equality Objectives.

Council housing is there to help every part of the community, and we want want to provide services which are fair to all.
We have an Equality and Diversity officer, whose role is to make sure we comply with the relevant legislation, promote the fairness agenda and make sure our services are as accessible as possible.

We take complaints relating to equality and diversity issues very seriously. You can find details of how to complain here. Our Customer Service Improvement Group is a group of residents which helps us develop better customer care procedures. We intend to collect more information about complaints so we can identify any equality issue.
Tenant Linda Harvey is the Equality and Diversity champion on the Board. Her role is promote the the fair treatment of tenants or leaseholder whoever they are and bring awareness of these issues to staff. All our Board reports have an equality and diversity section.
